Just the other day while I was watching T.V, I happened to come across a debate, where people demands the reason of worshiping images. What they claim seems logically right that all the religions in the world claim god is everywhere and he prevails in each and every object you could possibly conceive of then why is all this rituals concerning a particular image, especially in Hinduism where you can find a huge number of Gods which is really unnecessary.
Unfortunately this claim from young ones not only proves their ignorance, it also makes me worry that they are not really that logical or scientific as they think themselves to be, which really worries me to some extent.
Worshiping an object was present in almost all cultures in the world, its not by mistake or not without any solid reason that anyone would include this kind of habit in to a culture. Its really important to know that each and every shape carries its own characteristics, it becomes obvious if you meditate up on a particular shape, for example. If you take a stone that really doesn’t have any proper shape and meditate up on it for 30 minutes everyday, you will start to find that your mind will start to be little disturbed, irregular, you don’t tend to be the same person as you were before meditating up on the object.
On the contrary if you can take or imagine an object of profound shape, something like a cube and meditate up on it, you start to find your mind set changes more profoundly and you will start to become more organized, more punctual, you will start to do your business in a more organized way, these are the characteristics of a cube. Normally we don’t tend to notice these things as we are very busy with proving our old cultures to be wrong and illogical, we never tend to dig deeper in to greater truths of life which is a sad part in itself.
Each and every idols and every shape of gods in Hinduism is not merely a shape of a person or shape of some imaginary character, but rather those images were brought about with tremendous insight and if you take any of that image depending up on your own personality and meditate up on it, you will have a great chances of growing more spiritually and you will start to notice profound differences in your lifestyle.
