Link Building Methods That Really Work

by admin on October 13, 2009

I have came across a lot of website owners and even a lot of amateur webmasters in the pursuit of building links to their site and making their site or blog popular engage in a lot of link building methods, many just want to spam away their campaign as it involves less work. But I can say from my own experience that not all link building methods are really helpful and especially when you spam away your link building campaigns then there is a high chance that you may end up getting penalized by search engines.

Directory Submissions:

I would really suggest don’t no more waste any time and efforts in submitting your urls to directories anymore, Google no more takes your urls in directories in to consideration, perhaps if you can manage to get your link in to DMOZ then it might add to some value but I think its almost impossible nowadays to get your links in to DMOZ directory.

But if you find a directory that is relevant to your niche then it might worth a try, also make sure that the directory you are submitting your links to are not spammy, but my over all suggestion on this particular subject is just don’t waste your time and money in directories.

Article Submission:

If you are a good writer or you got someone who can really write great articles for you related to your product then, article directories like ezine, article city can do a great job for you to gain more exposure, but just avoid adding links to any other site in the body of the article, just try to add your links and descriptions about your products in resource box provided in these directories and if you don’t find a resource box in any article directories then don’t waste your time in posting your articles to those sites, they will not add any value your site and instead you are giving away your content for free.

One thing to remember when you use article directories is that, try to use key phrases in your titles, try to use titles that are most searched in Google, as the article sites like ezinearticles.com are very popular you have a very high chance that your articles will appear in first page of Google for your keywords and generates more views and more exposure to your link resource box below and if people likes your article they will add them to their blogs and websites with your link still intact, this generates backlinks to your site and also increases the probability of you gaining more traffic through your links.

Social Bookmarks:
As many people started to realize that directory submissions are starting to fade away more and more people are now starting to move in to social bookmarking sites like digg.com, rediff.com etc.. social bookmarks are good but sites like digg.com are very strict with spam links, if they find the link you bookmarked to be a spam then they will straight away ban your url for ever so just try to make use of bookmarking sites decently and don’t try to spam them, also submit your links to bookmarking sites that has do-follow attributes to your links otherwise you won’t really get the link juice for your sites.

One good thing about social bookmarks is that you gain exposure to your links with thousands and millions of people who use these sites to share information to the world. So you not only get link juice through them but also you might get a little traffic from people who uses these sites.

Blog Comments:
Just know that no-follow blog comments has no value in Google anymore, so its good if you want to build some back links to your site then you start by finding do-follow blogs, but if you make sensible comments on popular blogs with high traffic then people will still click your link and come to your site though the blog may use no-follow attribute in their comment section you will still drive traffic to your blog through the links. So do comment but don’t spam your comment. Google algorithm can now detect spam comments, normally when people make spam comments, they use a same text in every blog and Google algorithm can now detect those comments which looks like spams and don’t count them as back links to your sites, so if you want to build links using blog comments then try to make genuine and relevant comments.

Forum Signatures:
I would say its really good way to get some back links, register yourself in a popular forums and start to contribute there and you will mostly get a signature space where you can add your links and more you post, more the probability that people will find your links and click them, though signature links don’t add much value as far as back links are concerned you can still get some traffic through it.

Ad posting:
I would say if you got a list of classifieds site then its a very good way to advertise your site and products for free and gain more exposure and good thing about classifieds sites is that many of them are free and so you can make a good use of them, you can try to hire someone to do the work for you to submit to these classified sites. does it add and value to your links in google? well yes some links in classifieds site do have a value.

RSS/FEED Sites:
I am yet to find the effectiveness of these sites as I recently found out many of the RSS feed directories have been shut down and I never really got any traffic through these sites, but I came across many people saying it works for them but I am really yet to tap its potential.

Blog Directories:
If you got a blog then best way to gain some exposure to your blog is submitting them to blog directories like blog catalog which proved to really useful to me, zambio is another very useful blog directory and I love using them both but there are tons of other blog directories to choose from but as far as I am concerned I love using these two and I really recommend both of them.

Yes, writing articles requires time and efforts, but it’s possible to hire a writer to create the articles if one is not good at writing.

I personally hate blog comments that look like spam, I prefer to do comments manually, as far as the directories are concerned I really suggest to look for quality ones and ones related to your niche otherwise Google will not value your links on low quality directories. Articles submitting really do a great job if you write topics with titles that are catchy and that more searched on your niche.

Thanks for your comments :)
